Mistral Malibu

Question
Hi Windlover, I would like to know how to fit the fin to a Mistral Malibu windsurfer, which I have purchased 2nd hand recently. The fin has a pin at the rear which slips into a slot in the bottom of the board and allows the fin to slide backwards and forwards The front of the fin has a nut & bolt and I can't work out how this fixes to the board. Thanks in anticipation.

Answer
Hey Ian,

Remove the nut and bolt from the fin. Slide the pin end of the fin down through the wide opening and slide the fin back so the front of the fin is about and inch or so from the front of the slot. The tab for the bolt should be back from the wide part of the slot. Slide the nut into the wide opening and slide it back under the tab so that the hole in the tab and the nut line up. Now insert the bolt through the tab into the nut and tighten securely.

You can adjust the fin forward and back for different conditions. Forward for light winds, about midway for medium to high winds and most of the way back for high winds.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover

Hey Ian,

The tab is the end of the fin opposite where the pin is on the part of the fin that fits into the slot on the board. Where the pin slides in the slot is where the nut will go also. Then you line up the hole on the tab with the nut and insert the screw. If this doesn't sound like what your fin looks like, try sending me a picture as there is a small chance that you have a different fin than you describe.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
