footstraps & lessons

Question
I have inherited a HiFly 320FX longboard(?) from a neighbor.  I am going to take it to a friends lake here in Alabama this spring to learn and then take it with me when my wife and I go to Hilton Head.

The footstrap locations on the board each have 5 holes in them.  What type of footstraps will I have to buy for this and how are they installed?  Is this an older model of board and will it be difficult to find footstraps?  Do I need footstraps?

Do you know of anyplace or anyone in Hilton Head that gives lessons?

Thanks for the advice.  I'm looking forward to this sport!!

Answer
Hey Chris,

You can find footstraps at many online stores or any windsurf shop. Check out windsurfingmag.com under 'links' for online shops. Adjustable straps would be your best bet as others may use your board or you need to adjust them if you wear booties in colder water.

As for a place to get lessons in Hilton Head? I'm not aware of any place and can't find any info online. But, there could be something there that doesn't have a website or just isn't showing up in my searching. I'm send a link to a place in Georgia that may be able to give you some insight on lessons in the Hilton Head area. They mention many  of the sailing spots in South Carolina that I sailed at many years ago. Hopefully they will be able to give more help than me.

Best of luck with learning to windsurf. Just be warned that it is an extremely fun and addicting sport.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
