First board and volume

Question
Hello :) I'm thinking of purchasing a my first short board - a JP X-Cite. I'm currently working with the harness/straps and have read that this is a good intermediate board to develop with. However I'm struggling with which volume to check out (I've read that volume isn't all that you rely on)
I weigh 60-63kg, and will be mainly using it on flat water so will still want to uphaul. Will the 110 be too challenging? (w 66.5 cm x l 252 cm) and will a 120 be more suitable? (w 69 cm x 254 cm)
I'm going to test the board before I buy, but I have to travel to different locations to try them!
Thanks for your help.

Answer
Hey Li,

The 120 will be more suitable if you are still having to uphaul. It may still create a challenge but the wider board will help stability and the higher volume will help.  You will definitely grow into either board but the 120 will be the lesser challenge. With the 110, you would probably need to have some waterstarting experience to not go through a lot of frustration. Even with the 120, you will be able to sail higher winds and still have enough volume for light wind days. Be sure to test both if you can to determine for sure what will work better for you and your abilities.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
