Mast foot for an old Wayler

2016/7/22 14:42:05

Question
I have recently been fooling around with my father's old windsurfer. I was just getting the hang of it when the mast base broke. He has an old wayler and I haven't been able to find parts for it anywhere.

The flexible rubber part of the mast base has broken. I have been looking into using a replacement rubber joint from another brand, however I haven't been able to detach the broken joint from the bottom section of the base (I have succeeded in unscrewing it from the top section). Should I be able to unscrew it? or was the piece made as one part and not designed to be unscrewed?

The other alternative seems to be to replace the whole base  with a new one. However, i haven't been able to find a single wayler part for sale anywhere. Furthermore, the other brands seem to use different systems for attaching their masts to the board. The mast base model I have works by sliding the top portion of the base into the bottom of the mast and then attaches to the board by slotting a pin into a hole on the board.

There is nowhere on the board where you might screw in a more modern base.

If you have any adivice it would be much appreciated

I would appreciate any advice

Answer
Old parts for Waylers are extremely rare to find.  You can try   www.the-house.com to see what they have.  Send me a picture of the broken part to [email protected] so I can see what you are speaking of.  If it is just the rubber hourglass universal joint then it can be detached from the base and replaced.
