how do i get planing then move into the straps

I could spend a lot of time explaining it to you but here is a link that will give you excellent instructional tips on planing and getting into the straps.

Click on the 'How To' section. Check out page 3, article 3 and page 4, articles 9 & 13. Be sure to browse the various other articles to learn more about 'How To' get the most out of your sailing without the cost of an instructor. Most of these articles are written by professional instructors or pro sailors. Many have pictures included to help you understand what they teaching. Lots of other good information on the site regarding gear, where to sail, etc.
