beginner rigging question

Question
Hello,   I have been windsurfing on a 17 year old bic board and sail for about
17 years.  I recently received a new mistral prodigy with a north-sail drive
light 5.8 meter sail as a gift.  This is a profoundly different setup.  When I rig
the sail, the battens are all pinned to one side of the mast, and rarely (if ever)
swing to the other side.  I have rigged the downhaul and outhaul quite tight,
and still have this problem.  Should I adjust the batten tension, am I doing
something terribly wrong?  Thanks for you help!

Answer
Hi Jayhong,

It sounds like you are not getting enough downhaul on the sail. Most newer sails require way more downhaul than older sails. I'm guessing that your rig is a package and has the proper mast for the sail. If this is true, then go to this link and scroll down to 'Non-camber rigging instructions'. You will find all you need to rig your sail properly. You can also look up your sail to verify you have the right mast/boom for your sail. Just click sails, overview, Drive, for your sail specs.

Hope this will help you get rigged properly.
Keep on sailing,
Windlover
