dagger board on bic Fun Slalom

Question
We got a like new board and sail from someone but can't figure out how the Dagger Board would be lashed down.  I can't imagine it will stay in place just dropped into the slot.

it just seems like we are missing something and don't want to haul it to water without knowing how to complete the rigging.  Al else looks pretty self explanatory.

any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Answer
Hey Dave,

I not real familiar with exactly how that daggerboard connects with that board. But, most daggerboards all work on the same principal. There should be some buttons that are spring loaded that will push in and slide into a pre-designed slot in the daggerboard well. The key is to determine which slots the buttons go into so that the daggerboard will pivot properly. There should only be one or two options on how the daggerboard will go in and only ONE way that it will work properly. They will usually go in in a position that has the daggerboard about 2/3's extended and then it should pivot to fully extended and fully retracted. It may be a combination of lining up the correct slots & buttons, then pushing back and down to get it into the correct position. Once it is in the correct position, it shouldn't come out without you physically removing it.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
