Question
Good morning.  I have recently started to seriously try to lose weight and I've been having some positive results.  I've lost almost 20 lbs, but could still stand to lost another 50 or so.  I've decided to try and add some exercise into my routine, but I'm having some issues finding footwear that will be supportive enough so that I don't have blisters or end up having extreme knee/lower back pain.  My feet are, and always have been extremely flat.  They are also very narrow and I have a lot of problems with overpronation.  I've tried to research and find a brand of shoe that supports this, but it seems plenty support one, but I've not yet found one that supports all.  Do you have any suggestions?  Thank you in advance for any help you could give me.

Answer
You say you have researched, but it doesn't sound like you have really taken the one essential step. The best way to do this is to find a running specialty store with a great reputation. The employees there will have been trained to analyze the mechanics of your foot strike, then work with you to find the best fitting shoe for your characteristics. It won't be cheap, but it will be worth it to finally get the best shoe for your feet and leave pain behind.

Even without following the above advice, if you continue losing the excess weight, the problems you mention will become less intense. The extra weight has no doubt added to the pain issues.
