Walking question

Question
Hello....

I have a question regarding walking. I am a 33 year old male.  I am 6'2" tall and weigh 290 pounds. I am a big guy. Up until 4 years ago I was always fit and in shape.  I guess oncer I hit 30 my body started changing as well as my activity level and I started putting on the pounds.  In the past 3.5 years I have not exercised one second.  My first child was born 2 months ago and I decided to make some changes.  I changed my diet for the first 4 weeks then I started walking. I started walking 1/2 mile a day for 4 days.  i then increased it to 1 mile a day for 4 days.  i then went to 1.5 miles a day for 4 days. Then to 2 miles a day for 5 days. As of today I have been walking every day for the past 18 days. Here is my question / issue.  Why do my legs still hurt when I walk? I would assume that after slowly increasing the amount of miles that I walk, it would start to get easier.  I do stretch before walking.  I spend about 5 - 7 minutes stretching my calves, hamstrings...all the leg muscles.  I walk at a good pace. I am not jogging but I am not casually strolling either.  I have not stopped walking because of this but if it doesn't get better soon I just might stop. It is manily my calves that hurt the most.  Could it be my sneaker?  I am walking in just plain normal reebok sneakers.  They are not walking or running sneakers.

Any  ideas?

Thank you,

Paul

HELLP PAUL
YOU INCREASED TOOOOO FAST.
SLOW UP START OVER WITH ONE HALF MILE FOR A MONTH.
DO NOT INCREASE UNTIL YOUR LEGS, FEET AND ALL ARE SO COMFORTABLE.
THEN GO ONE MILE FOR A MONTH.  SAME.
YES, DO STRETCHING WARM UPS AND COOL DOWNS, HOT TUB SOAKS OF TWENTY MINTES AT BEDTIME OR WHATEVER, A HOT TUB WORKS WONDERS ALSO OR A PORTABLE ONE FROM SEARS FOR HUNDRED BUCKS.

YOU INCREASED TOO  FAST, START OVER AND SET GOALS OF WHAT U WANT TO REACH FOR AND GO FOR THEM BUT HIGHLY SLOWLY AS WE AGE AND OUR MUSCLES AND LIGEMENTS DO NOT STRETCH NOR STAND FOR THIS TREATMENT AS IN OUR TWENTIES.

TREAT YOUR BODY AS A TEMPLE AND KEEP IT IN SUPER CONDITION, BUT VERY SLOWLY IN YOUR INCREASING, THAT WAS TOO FAST, NOW REAT A WEEK, START OVER LIKE I TOLD YOU A MONTH OF ONE THING AND GO ON, ETC.

DO SOME WEIGHTS AT HOME OR JOIN A GYM, IT NEVER HURTS TO KEEP A SPOTER ON YOU TO GUIDE U TO YOUR GOALS WITH LIFTING ALSO.?  WALKING IS A GREAT THING, BUT IT CAN BE SO DAMAGING ALSO.  MY DAUGHTER POWER WALKS, I GOT HER 200 DOLLAR SHOES AS HER BACK WAS BOTHERING HER, MADE A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.
HAVE GREAT SHOES AS WELL, MAKE THE HUGE INVETSTMENT IT IS WORTH EVERY DOLLAR SPENT FOR YOUR BODY CAN ONLY TAKE SO MUCH, GO SLOW PLEASE
