Boom head fitting for old Mistral boom

2016/7/22 14:38:06

Question
The boom-head / handle fitting on our old Mistral shattered yesterday.  I am seaching for a replacement boom head for the 1.25inch boom.  The intersection angle appears to be around 30 degrees, but the replacement heads I find are for 90 intersection.  What is the solution?
Thx !

Answer
Hey Scott,

They don't make a head to fit your old angle anymore. Here is the closest thing that will work for your boom.

Remove your tailpiece and install your boom arms into this head. Then you have to force the tails together to get your tail piece to go on. It seems like things are stressing bit but I used this same set up for quite a few years on an older Mistral boom.

Hope this helps.
Keep on sailing,
