carbon fiber frame verse cold weather

2016/7/16 9:29:39

Question
I live in the Rocky Mountains it is cold here 7 months of the year. I would like to know the adverse effects of the cold weather on carbon fiber bike frames. I have an aluminum frame road bike now and was thinking of buying a carbon fiber frame.

Answer
Hello Leon,

I don't know if cold gets a real grip at carbonfibers.
Maybe when it is been exposed to extremely fatique tests during extreme cold. But also carbonfiber is nowadays used to fragile (wings parts) at airplanes (very cold at 10.000 mtr in the sky).
So I think that is should be ok.

Never heard anyone complain.

Best regards,

Mike
