rear cassette problem

2016/7/16 9:30:00

Question
Hi Michael,

I just got my hands on an old Pugeot road bike and I am having some
problems getting it to run.  I've got everything going except my rear wheel.
When I turn the pedals, the sprockets turn and the chain is smooth but the
wheel won't turn.  Is there something wrong with the cassette? Or do i need a
new back wheel?  Thanks

Answer
Hello Josh,

So, an old Peugeot roadbike...
Is it for/from an collector or something else (new hobby to renew the Peugeot)? But about the sprockets, maybe they are worn out, or maybe the hub is worn out.
Can you give me some details about the rearhub, is it a Shimano (which one) or Campagnolo or even a Mavic is possible.
A hub does exist out several parts, but when the cassette is turning and the wheel won't turn there must be one part in the hub which is not working anymore. Seems to me that it is a little problem. Be more specific about the name of the hub. There are in the US many people who collecting those bike's. Look at campyonly.com for example.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

Mick
