Question
I am serious mountain biker and I ride lots of technical terrain.  I'm in and out of the saddle alot and my regular shorts snag sometimes.  I started riding with a guy that works at the local shop and he says that I should get some spandex or lycra cycling shorts.  So my question to you is should I purchase cycling shorts and what is the best material and brand?  I ride in very hot South Carolina weather.

Answer
Hello Jordan,

I can only say that the other bloke has right!
A normal short don't have flat seems and lycra or spandex materials which you give you more comfort.
Especially one with a upperbody with it.
All pro's and amateurs ride with those short from lycra, so why don't you?
It don't snag and isn't painfull.
A good brand is Pearl Izumi or Louis Garneau and Nike now like the clothings in Tour de France which has be won by Lance Armstrong.

So, try different kind of shorts and the one who fit you the best is made for you.

Kind regards.

Michael

There are different kind of paddings, try them on a fittingbike in the store or take your own bike with you to feel the differences.
