play in lower unit

I have alot of play in a merc crusier oc426030 lower unit and the steering ig uncontrolable a low speeds....everything is tight back to the unit but on dry land i can move lower unit alot...oil level and grease is fine....hoe or can you adjust this

In view of the symptoms you've described, I recommend you consult a qualified and reliable marine mechanic to determine the cause of the play in the lower unit. It may require a shim. You won't know the answer till the unit is properly examined.
