Tiller Handle Compatibility for 1977 Johnson 25HP Outboard
Question
I have a 1977 johnson 25hp modle 25E77, it was originally set up for control steering. I bought the motor and it runs great, except, I need tiller steering. I got a base or plate that the handle connects to but cant find a tiller handle what years and hp will work on this. the base is from a 1977 johnson 25hp incase you need to know. Thank you Ray

Hi Ray....Thank you for selecting the undersigned to respond to your question.
Obviously, the tiller of an outboard motor provides a mode for steering, and integrated within the handle is a manual throttle control, which you seem to be missing. I'm not a mechanic, but suggest you consult a local marine mechanic for guidance. As far as parts are concerned, they could be hard to come by. Source out the internet for suppliers. Check with classic and antique boat restorers for references.
