Parts for 1961 Oceanic 18

Question
Ron, I have found a 1961 18' Oceanic cruiser (Red fish).  I like the old lines and will restore soon.  Most in very good shape except the windshield.  It is broken, but intact.  Do you have knowledge of any group or yard that may have parts for this great old boat?
Thanks for you help.
Bill

Answer
Hi Bill. Thanks for directing your question to me. Try "West Island Marine" (westislandmarine.com)- 196 St. Isidore, Quebec J0L 2A0 - Ph: 1-450-454-5585 - ask for Brian Hynes. He has connections in the U.S. as well. There are a few, and I mean real few places that may have what you're looking for. The problem is finding where they're located. Parts are often bought in block lots by older marinas, marine salvors & boat restorers. Unfortunately, they don't always advertise what they have on hand, so it becomes a scavenger hunt, sometimes in futility. Your best bet is to check with sources throughout coastal Florida or California, which may lead you to discovering what you're seeking. It will involve a lot of work or time on the computer and/or phone. Have you considered advertising? Use the on-line yellow pages. Check current and old trade magazines, and inquire of boat builders from around the same era. Other than that Bill, I'm out of suggestions.

Good Hunting,
Ron
