Question
The  plywood stringers on my boat  rotted out. the fiberglass tabs that attach to the hull are still intact
1) Can I insert new wood into them and cap it with fiberglass ?
2) do they make a castable epoxy there I can fill them with ?
the stringers are about 5 feet long
any other suggestion would be appreciated

Answer
Dear Mike,

It is hard to get that wood out of the pockets and you may need to cut the length of the pocket to extract the wood.  You can use fiber glass cloth tape to re-attach it but sand well to get a ruff surface to adhere to.

I would replace the strips with wood from an old wooden ski for extra spring if you can. Just cut the ski to shape.  If the ski has a plastic bottom on it no problem but make sure any metal edges do not cut there way out of your pocket.

Hope this helps.
