Boat Trailor Lighting Problem

2016/7/16 9:27:26

Question
I have a recent problem with my lighting on my boat trailer.  It appears that the right side (passenger side) of the trailer lights are fine but the left side of the trailer lights (driver's side) all do not work including the rear lights.  Any idea as to what the problem may be?
Thanks
Chris

Answer
Hi Chris

Thank you for selecting the undersigned to respond to your question.

I'm not a mechanic nor an electrician, but the one thing that doesn't appear to have failed is the fuse in the dash of your vehicle, and I can't imagine each side of trailer lights have an independent fuse.

Obviously, there's no power going through the left side of your trailer's lights, which suggests there might be a problem at the initial source of connection. It could be the coupler is faulty or perhaps the wire after the connector is broken. Since one side works, it doesn't appear you've crossed the circuit.

Best bet is to have a qualified mechanic check it out and locate the source of the problem.
