Boat pulls to the left

2016/7/16 9:27:31

Question
I have a 1981 Viking 2200 sterndrive and when I am at higher speeds it pulls to the left. What might be causing this and how can I fix the problem. Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Scott

Thanks for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

Underneath the cavitation plate of the outdrive there is a small silver colored fin. If your boat is pulling to the left, undo the nut and turn the fin to the right, and vice versa for pulling to the right. It might take a few adjustments before you get it perfect.

Before undertaking the above, check the bilge areas for water and clogged limber (drainage) holes. Check the location of your equipment to ensure everything is properly or equally balanced. Sometimes, equipment of all kinds can end up on one side and create an imbalance, so, shift it around till you're satisfied it is equally distributed.
