Outboard stalls after warming up

2016/7/15 18:33:06

Question
I have an older Mercury 50HP outboard on my boat, sorry I don't know the year of the motor.  When I first start it up it runs fine.  Once it is warmed up it stalls out while in gear and dies.  It will run fine using the warm up throttle, but as soon as you put it in gear after it is warm it acts like it is not getting any fuel.  Any ideas on what might be wrong

Answer
Hi Shane...Thanks for selecting the undersigned to reply to your question.

Unfortunately, your specific problem is beyond my area of expertise so, I recommend you consult a qualified and reliable marine mechanic. First, get him to identify the year of the o/b mtr. Secondly, as him whether it is economical to troubleshoot the problem, and be guided by his advice. In the long run, you just might save yourself a lot of money.
