Question
Hello sir,I have a filly that's got a dry coat problem and she is a good race horse but i don't know how to train her and treat the dry coat problem please help me.thanks

Answer
Try feeding her a higher fat diet. Adding soy oil, flaxseed or rice bran oil are some suggestions. Grains or supplements containing Omega 3 fatty acids are also beneficial. Add electrolytes and free choice minerals if you thing hydration is a problem. Do not bathe everyday and when bathing, use soap specially made for dull, dry coats. Make sure you dry her thoroughly after a bath before putting her in a stall. Check her hydration. If she is dehydrated, you will need to do what you can to get more water in her. She should be drinking 5 to 10 gallons a day. She may need some I.V. fluids if she is severely dehydrated.
