Question
Hi - My step daughter Alex is an apprentice jockey (Newmarket, England) and desperately wants to ride/race in the U.S. Do you have any advice on how she can get started?. Alex has a dual nationality passport (UK/USA). Alex has already raced here in the UK and trained/qualified at The British Racing School in Newmarket
Many Thanks
Sally

Answer
Many UK trainers have contacts with trainers here in the States.  Your daughter might try asking the trainers for whom she currently rides for a recomendation to someone over here that she could ride for.  Or she might try sending out resumes to large training operations here, appying for a stable job that might turn into a racetrack position.
Another avenue might be to try and ride at one of the larger two year old in-training sales, and make a few contacts that way.  Many trainers hire help from the UK to work the sales.

Good Luck!
