Question
Does 1 minute of swimming equal to 1 mile of galloping?

Answer
hi -- well ,i have swam horses in between races to keep their wind in good condition, but i have never swam them into a race. you need a combination of swimming and galloping in order to get the horse dead fir. if the horse is running and in shape, but a little sore or has bad breathing or a wind problem, then you can swim them  off and on between races to keep them fit. swimming alone will cause the horse to not be legged up enough to run a good race.  galloping is the best to leg them up and swimming is very good between races to keep them fit in the wind.  hope this helps  thanks ED HESS
