training horses barefooted on deep sand

2016/7/15 11:23:46

Question
hello madam, if i work horses barefooted on deep sand heavily, will their hoof get damaged since sand is dry substance?

Answer
hi-- a horses hoof is made up of compressed hair, so it it pretty tuff. i do not think that training on deep sand would hurt the feet very much, but i always train  horses with some sort of shoe on the feet, that way i do not have any chance of damaging the hoofs. thanks ED HESS
