hey my name is lulu and i want to become a thoroughbred racing trainer. i live in Wisconsin and i don't think there is a collage up here and i don't want to go 2 far away from home i know most my stuff i learned from a man who use to be in it in his younger age but hes not doing well and i would like to Persue in my dreams. id really respect if you'd help me with my second step. thank you very much.

Hi Lulu:

You do NOT have to go to a college to get your trainer's license.  Get a job at a racetrack close to you and inquire with the stewards as to the requirements for a trainer's license.  It will usually entail a written test and a practical test (saddling, bandaging, tongue-tie application, etc.).  Normally, you would need at least three to five years on track as a groom and then an assistant trainer before you could become a licensed conditioner.
