Question
Hi I am 17 and have worked with horses for 12 years I would like to train race horses, and eventually own and manage my own racing stable. But I have know clue where to start. What do i have to do to get a license and go about my career. Thank-you so much for your time. Thanks Macayla

Answer
Macayla,

I would suggest that you get a job as a hotwalker or groom at a local farm or racetrack, and then pay close attention to everything that you hear and see being done.   Some will be things to learn, and some will be things to avoid.  Both are equally important to know, trust me.
After a while you can work your way up to assistant trainer, and once you're comfortable enough, you can apply to take the trainer's test.  If you're working at the track, you'll likely have to take the test to be an assistant as well, so you'll be that much closer to going out on your own.

Good Luck!
