wondering how to become a horse trainer

Question
hi there, i was wondering if you could help me i want to become a assisant trainer more hands on experience is there a course required for this and is a assistant paid for the job?

Answer
In the racing industry, you must pass a few test at the race track to become a licensed assistant trainer. I would get with a stable as a groom and work your way to barn foreman. After a few years, maybe take a shot at getting an assistant trainer's license. It pays ok, but you basically do all the work, the trainer usually does. You may as well get your trainer's license at this point. The test are the same for assistant and trainer in most states.

There are classes out there, but most just find a trainer who is willing to teach someone new. It pays very little at first, but it's worth the experience.
