Pedigree symbols

Question
I know the letters are for the dosage index. What do the = symbols and * mean on my Thoroughbreds pedigree mean? The asterick on an  Arabian means he is imported. Is it the same for Thoroughbreds? I am very curious about the equal sybol as well. My chestnut is an exracer bred by Mr Mabee. I bought him for pleasure but, I am very curious as I have only owned quarter horses or arabians in the past. I have not owned a horse for show or racing.

Answer
The registration department at the Jockey Club will best answer this question for you.  They have a great website, but you may be better able to pose your question in an email to their registration department from their website.  Good luck,  Lora Brown
