Apprenticeship

Question
How exactly does someone who didn't grow up in the industry break into grooming, exercising and riding racehorses? What do you think is a good approach for someone who wants to become an apprentice, especially if they don't live in a racing state?

Answer
Everyone seems to come into this business a different way.

If there is a horse farm near, you could start there, or maybe get a summer job at a training center.

You will have to start out as a hot walker, pay attention to the grooms and hope one of them will teach you the ropes.

It is almost impossible to go right to the race track and get a job as no one wants inexperienced help working with the expensive horses.

learning to ride is also best learned on a farm or traing center

                      Good luck
