Full Cheek Snaffle & D-Ring Bit: Impact on Horse Speed & Racing
Question
hello sir, does the spoons in the full cheek snaffle, lower spoons of Dexter ring bit, even the D ring bit help a horse to run faster in the race when the jockey is urging in the final straight?
Answer
The only way I could say that a bit helps the horse run faster is if the horse is able to take a comfortable hold of the bit while the rider uses this pressure to help hold the horse's head up. A severe bit would, in my opinion, cause the horse to slow down when pressure is applied. I would use the kindest bit possible if your jockey likes to ride on the bit.
