dexter ring bits

Question

dexter ring bits
hello sir, i have a 5 year old chestnut gelding. he's very keen in the race, to save up his energy, i raced him from midpack sticking to the inner rail. but, the moment he's off from gates, he takes a fast jump, goes on lead, but starts dropping back from last 300m when raced at 1200m. so, i planned to a dexter ring bit. i got confused which bit to use, i meant a dexter ring bit with spoons or without spoons. can you please help me out?

Answer
hi--  the problem may not be with the bit you are using as the horse shows speed and then starts to tire. it could be a breathing or soreness problem as many horse do have these types of racing problems. you can always check with your vet to check the breathing  and a quick lameness exam also. thanks ED HESS
