QUESTION: When they scratch a horse at the gate and it is part of an entry the other horse runs for purse only.  right?

ANSWER: hi - well every horse in a race runs for the purse. so if there is a entry and one of the horses is scratched, then the remaining horse runs for his or her share of the purse. hope that helps. thanks ED HESS

QUESTION: You can not bet on the horse that is running for purse only.  It just runs for the purse.

hi  well if it i non betting race then the horse runs for the purse only. that would be a schooling or condition race. the trotter usually run those kind of races to get the horse use to racing , before they actually start in their first race . thanks ED HESS
