ex racehorse mare

Question
QUESTION: i recently purchased a Thoroughbred mare named chanson de soleil she got off racing in 2000 and had a foal every year. i got her in the beginning of march. how can i train her to not always need to be in the lead and race every horse. she also has been bucking when she takes off racing another horse. also what is a good feed to keep weight on her but not make her hyper?
i love this mare and don't want to sell her but she wont stop racing everyone around.

ANSWER: hi --well she was trained to race, so she will always have that urge to race, AFTER ALL she was born to run !! you can watch the amount of protein in her grain, they only need about a 12-15% protein , not much more then that. good timothy hay, a good sweet feed with about 12--15 % protein. a Greg training program, just exercise, not too much drilling . soft music in the barn helps horses to relax also. they do have additives to add to The grain to calm them down . hope this helps you  thanks ED HESS
