Recovery Drinks

Question
Hello Nick,
Just wondering if you recommend any type of recovery drinks to replace carbs, electrolytes and proteins after a major run?  I have heard that chocolate milk is highly recommended, but milk products don't agree with me.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Tim

Answer
Awesome question Tim.  I recommend a smoothie or home made juice of vegetables and fruit.  There are many combinations you can use for these.  You can find a decent juicer online for $90 or less and blenders can be $20 or less.  Juicers are smoother, but you do lose some of the nutrients (ie fiber) when juicing.  I do a little bit of both.  You can then add a protein powder. If it's the lactose that bothers you in milk products you can probably handle a whey protein.  Besides these suggestions store bought drinks should have a 4:1 ratio of carbs to protein.  If you have more questions or need further suggestions don't hesitate to ask.
