Question
Hello! I just started running two weeks ago.  I am up to about 3 miles at a pace of 5.7mph.  However the last few days i noticed the lower half of my legs in the calfs/ankles are alot fatter and swollen.  I am a little sore but still can walk/run. why are my calfs/ankles swelling up? Is it from strain, and will it eventually go down. thanks!

Answer
Hi Miss Kitty
Without knowing your bio and past history of exercise and running i can't give a specific reason for that situation, but i do know for sure that that there are a number of problems associated with beginners starting out such as doing to much to fast and the bodies cardio vascular and muscular skeleton system can't handle it.I would recommend supplementing with some biking or stationary bike workouts or alternating with some walking and just have patience and over time you will be fine.

All the best

John
