need help for my sons running

2016/7/22 10:08:10

Question
My son plays all sports and is by far the slowest kid on every team he is on.  But he has always ran on his heels and is very, very slow.  He is heavy but not fat.  I have worked with him to try to correct the way he runs but nothing seems to work.  Is there a training shoe that could help.  I feel bad for him and I don't know what to do to help him become a little faster.  Please help.

Answer
Hi Rick
Don't worry about how he runs, just let him run naturally.Everybody has a different form. The only thing that will help him with his speed is training. We are all gifted by the guy up stairs some with high performance engines like kenyans etc and some are not as quite blessed with only VW,chev, cadilac, etc if you know what i mean.We can only take what we as individuals have been gifted and just train and work hard to maximize are talent to the best of our ability. There are many workouts that would help him increase his speed, but not knowing his age, height weight and his fitness background and goals i can't really be specific other than to mention they include first a good distance foundation, strength work, interval workouts, hill repeats. It would really be a combination of these with a structure geared toward specific goals that you and him decide together. It really is not going to be easy to put this together as he is so involved in so many sports and would need to set a side a block of time to accomplish a good program that would produce the results.I would look for a local running coach that could assist you and your son put a good program together.I do phone coaching all over the usa and abroad if you would be interested in discussing it.I hope this has helped, and if you have other questions just get in touch or call any time Rick.

All the best

John
