QUESTION: Hey thanks for the reply,

I am 28, weight is 10 stone started up running only about 3 months ago, i am fine when i run in the woods even though there are a lot more hills, i still find it harder running on hard surfaces.

Answer
The body takes on more stress running on hard surfaces as the hard surface leads to more shocks from the pounding. Also, women's bones are most often softer than men's. This combination can easily lead to discomfort in the knees and shins. I would recommend running on soft surfaces, as well as making sure you get calcium for the bones. Over time, your body should adapt to the stress.
