Uncontrollable Shaking of the Leg

2016/7/22 10:08:24

Question
For more than 2 months I have been suffering from shin splints, not so bad that it is a stress fracture, I've already had an Xray. I took about a month off training and then started back again. I was getting slight pain but it wasn't that bad so I continued and iced my legs every evening when I got in. Just this week I've been doing the usual work out (for sprinting) and straight after I've done one run 400m, 300m or 200m even if it wasn't with all effort involved I've stopped and walked around to catch my breathe then suddenly my legs start shaking uncontrollably I am really worried because they won't stop and my legs start to hurt when it happens.

Answer
Hi Anita
With out knowing your background as far as training present and past, height, weight, age, it is hard to pin point, but based on what your telling me it appears to me your body is not ready for such a workout with that kind of intensity.I wouldn't worry Anita, just back off the intensity a little and give yourself plenty of recovery be fore you go to it again. things you can do to help with recovery is icing your legs and a couple of epson salt baths a week.I really believe it is just a lack of conditioning. If you have any other questions just get in touch.

All the best

John
