fastest man

Question
i was wondering what the average max speed for a human was in mph, as well as the fastest a man has run on flat ground. all i can find is time wise, such as bolts 200 meter dash, but how fast was he running when he did it?

Answer
A 7:30 mile is 8 mph, likely the limit of most nonathletes.
A 6:00 mile is 10 mph, likely the limit of most athletes, except sprinters.

Bolt ran the 200 meters in 19.3 seconds.  This translates into 23.2 mph averaged across 200 meters.  However, if you look at his peak speed during the 100 meter run...not the average across 100 meters, but the peak speed during the race, Bolt was at 27.3 mph.

Best regards, Larry
