jogging and gaining weight

Question
Hi John:
I am 5'10" weighing 177 and would like to get to 160. I eat 1/2 cup of cherrios and skim milk and a banana or 2 pieces of low cal wheat toast with a tspn of jam. Lunch is low cal wheat bread with turkey and low cal mayo (1 tspon). Dinner is chicken, turkey or fish with veggies, steamed. I usually have a skinny cow, or light ice cream for dessert. I also snack during the day on pretzels, or low fat (90 cal) granola bar. That's  about it.
thanks for your help,
shirly

Question -
I jogging on a treadmill about a month ago, in hopes of losing weight. I jog 4 times a week 3-4 miles, at a 6 miles per hour rate. I also incorporate weightlifting ( one body part, for each time I run). However, my weight is completely stagnant, if not actually going up a bit. Why? Help!

Answer -
Hi Shirly
I will need more info on you such as age height weight how long you have be jogging your daily diet all 3 meals goal weight etc.etc.to properly respond. One thing for sure is you will gain some muscle weight when you work out and also it is burn off more then you put in your mouth. The right foods also make a big difference.Get me that info and will pick it up from there.

The very best

John

Answer
Hi Shirly
If you want to truly speed up the fat loss, then what i would do is increase two of your runs to one hour.Fat burning increases dramaticly the longer you go even if you have to walk as you build up to the longer distance. The pace of your workout is not important.Just go long ,even to one in a half hours. The other thing i would have your body fat taken with calipers. You should look for about 15 percent. This will give you a base line.Fat is what you want to lose.Just go long as often as you can and that will move it along.

To your success

John
