Shin Pain from running.

2016/7/22 10:09:50

Question
QUESTION: I read your answer to the following question: Date: 3/24/2007
Subject: severe pain right below calf during and after running.

I have exactly the same experience as this man, except I am 29 and I did a lot of in-line skating rather than football. What I would like to know is if the pain will eventually go away and if it is caused due to lack of training for the last few years? Even just sitting at my desk, my shins are throbbing.

Thanks for your help.

ANSWER: Hi Csaba
The problem will go away if you treat the cause in time.Lack of fitness and coming back to quickly will cause various situations which you have to address before they get out of hand.If your problem is on the lower inside of the calf down low and directly in the front of leg you have shin splints and they will adapt over time if you treat them like i explained on 3/24/07.Is that where the pain is located Csaba?

QUESTION: Thanks for your help John. The pain is as you described it, but it s not directly in the front of my leg but just slightly on the inside. If the foot is flat, it is about 4 inches directly above "ankle bone", on the inside of my leg.

Answer
Hi Csaba
That is definitly shin splints. It takes time to heal and you just have to have a lot of patience along with a lot of icing 500mg vit c 3 meals a day.Take up stationary biking and out door biking also is good.I would give it a month before you test the water again.Any other questions just get in touch.

All the best
