Heart Rate Monitors

2016/7/22 10:10:38

Question
I have a strange phenomenon that occurs every time i run first thing in the morning. As soon as i start running my heart rate shoots up to 165 - 190 and wont come down to my normal rate of 120 - 130 for approximately 8 - 10 minutes.  all the time it is high my breathing is normal & i feel comfortable in the run. this does not occur if i run later in the day. my resting heart rate is 46 & my max heart rate by hill test is 174.
can you explain this?

Answer
Hi Tony
I know what your talking about since years ago i used one for some time and it does take time to settle down to a normal steady state.I'm confident it has nothing to do with your fitness, and more than likley it is in the function of your pulse meter.I would contact the manufacture to get an answer.I have a friend who is one of the largest polar dealers in the USA and perhaps he could give you some insight since he is also a very accomplished runner with years of experience.Tell him that i refered you this way you get a little more attention. His website is www.howtobefit.com and his name is Rich Dafter. We are her in albuquerque new mexico.

All the very best

John
