discomfort/pain right knee

Question
Hi John,

My name is Willie and I have been having knee problems, (mostly the right knee).  I have been an active person just about all of my life from running to Power Lifting and now in my later years, back to running and cycling.  My running consisted of 5 miles a day, 6 days a week and last year I incorporated cycling on the weekend.  For cycling please visit motionbased.com>click trailnetwork>find activities> and type in 搘vaccaro?to view activity.  The last 6 to 7 months I have been in a terrible downward spiral with both activities.  My right knee pops and cracks and I feel a lot of discomfort/pain especially when sitting for long rides in the car or just watching TV.  I always stretch but my hamstring and tendons around the knee are so tight they feel like they want to snap.  I抳e been to 3 orthopedic Doctors and they shrug their shoulders and gave me Ibuprofen as if it were candy.  Needless to say I still feel pain in my knee and have one hell of a stomach ache and now taking Prilosec to heal my stomach.  I am So frustrated with these Doctors but refuse to give up my running.  It抯 a very strange pain cycle.  I stopped running for a week and 2 occasions and after about a day or 2 of running the pain comes back.  I haven抰 missed 3 consecutive days of running in 4 years and now it is weeks at a time.  Is there anything I can do to help myself and do you think I will ever run with the frequency and intensity that I really love so much?

Thank You

Willie
