sudden knee pain

2016/7/22 10:11:51

Question
I am almost done with my training for a half marathon. 11 days to go. Yesterday, I did a 5 mile run and my knee started to hurt. It seems particularly in the back of my leg and sort of crunches. This has never happened before and I have previously run this distance. Help!! I am icing, resting, and taking anti inflammatories. Can I continue to run for the next couple of days? Should I rest until race day? What do you recommend?

Answer
I would take a few days off to rest and ice. Then I would just run easy from then until the race with maybe one harder run about 4 days before to get the blood flowing. There isn't much you can do the last week before a big race that will help you. The work should be done already.
