Arch and ball of the foot pain

2016/7/22 10:12:59

Question
I recently started running ~ I am currently training for a marathon. I somehow hurt my foot and I am having difficulty training. I wear orthotics due to a high arch. The pain is in the arch of my foot and the inside ball. It is most painful to walk down stairs and/or run. The pain seems like a shooting pain...it doesn't really hurt to walk - just run. Some people have said it may be plantar fasciitis but I don't have any pain in my heel. What does this sound like to you? I have my long run tomorrow and I am concerned that I won't be able to run due to the pain. Do you have an ideas of what I can do to limit the pain so I can run tomorrow?
PS I tried taping it today and that didn't really help....

Answer
Hi Tricia
It is very likely possible you do have a little plantar coming on but,the one thing that i know for sure is, it is over use in your training program preparation. There isn't anything else that it could be except a stress fracture, which i don't think so.You have to treat this very serious or your going to be in trouble.Do not run tomorrow, ice ice ice ice.Without any detailed info about you and how long you have been running or your program and when your marathon is i really can't advise where and what you need to do now Tricia. If you want to get back to me with more info,we can pick it up from here.

Best to you

John
