Exercising with Small joint effusion/Bakers cyst

Question
Hello,

I'm 37 and just recently had an MRI.  The results came back and there was no tearing of the medial and lateral meniscus, ACL and PCL.

They say I have small joint effusion and a slitlike baker's cyst.

My pain is very managable and I'm seeing an ortho this week to see what my next step is going to be.  My question is, can I still exercise (run)?  Or, will I be doing more bad than good if I start running again.  It's been about 6 weeks since the injury occured.  I'm going stir crazy and need to get back to the gym.

Any advice would be much apprecdiated!

Answer
Good question Paul. Since it has been 6 weeks and the pain is manageable feel free to exercise and run. Upper body exercise is better than lower body, but you should do some lower body. If the pain increases significantly then ease up, but if it doesn't keep going!  The goal with Baker's Cyst is to gradually return to pre-injury activity levels.

Good luck and let me know if I can be of any more help!
