Foot pain from jogging

Question
I took up the "From your coach to a 5K in 10 weeks" plan. It has gone great. Here recently I attempted my longest jog of about 6K. It felt great and I kept a nice pace throughout. The following day I had a sharp pain on the outside of my right foot. It really hurts to walk on it as well. Its now been a week later and the pain is just now going away. Is there anything preventive I can do going forward? Can I start jogging after the paint stops completely?

Answer
Hi Ken
Yes you can continue to train.I'm pretty sure you just strained some ligaments in the foot.Just ice, ice, ice your foot after your workouts and start taking 500mg vit c with your 3 meals a day.You are just starting and your body needs time to adapt. You just got a little in front of your fitness level.

All the best
John
