running-IT band sore...

John, Hi. I stumbled on this site, thought I'd give it a try. I started jogging Feb 1st, have gone from one mile to 5 miles in 2 months. I decided to go 6 miles 2 weeks ago, and my left outer knee/hip got very sore for one day. Soooo...Is it my form, shoes, posture, or just too much, too soon? I want to keep running, and add time/milage, but without injury.I'm wearing New Balance trail running shoes with about 150 miles on them.  Thanks in advance, Mark

Mark....In order to properly address this i need more info on your background such as...age height weight how many days your running and mile per day plus your previous background running and working out and health history.
