Cleaning climbing shoes

2016/7/22 8:47:54

Question
Jeff,
I have a pair of Zen climbing shoes which I only use once in a while for indoor climbing.  Every time I go they get soaked with sweat, how do you suggest to clean them?  The guys at the shop say that since their leather and rubber that lysol is the only way, but I'm hoping for another option.  Thanks for your time.

  Nate

Answer
I'm not sure on that one. I wear thin biking socks with my climbing shoes ( my feet too sweat a lot).
You might try soaking them in the sink with warm water. Be carfull with hot water as this may cause the rubber to delaminate. If you just want to kill the smell, put them in the freezer overnight. This will kill anything living in your shoes.

Good luck,

Jeff
