Development Camp

2016/7/22 9:47:44

Question
I am a sophomore in high school and was wondering about the difficulty to get into development camp for the junior national team. I am 5'6" and 155 pounds, and my PR 2k is a 7:44. I've been stroking boats with my club for the past 3 season (spring, summer & fall) and have done moderately well at indoor and outdoor races. I am currently recovering from tendonitis but am still trying to bring my time down and was wondering what my chances are and what to do to be selected.

Answer
Hi Hannah: Your erg time is in the top 15% to 20%, which is quite good.  However, to be considered for Development, you need a 2K time of 7:32 or better and a 4K tme of 16:00 or better.
